For 75 %movies, 25% music what would you guys suggest. Planning on powering them with an onkyo 804. May also dedicate a onkyo m282 to the fronts. If i go the paradigm route complete system will include a set of monitor 11's, a ps1200 or maybe 2, a cc390 and either a set of titan monitors for the rear, or a set of adp 390's. If i go the axiom route i will run a set of m80's, single ep500, and a a set of qs8's and a vp150. Any suggestions would be awesome. I cant audition the axioms because they are online only. Both seem like they are in the same price range. Not sure if they are of equal quality. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot

Paradigm Monitor's are great for movies. I have not heard any axiom speakers to date.

Have you had a chance to audition Paradigm's?

A closer match to Axiom speakers would be the "Studio" or higher lineup from Paradigm. In my previous testing and auditions I felt the "Monitor" series was of lower quality. Have you checked the Audition threads on Axiom's forum, there are many people all over that are willing to invite you into their home for an audition. Also, keep in mind the 80's are a 4ohm design and while being a very efficient speaker many AVR's and Seperates will drive them fine. There have been a few people with certain Onkyos that can't drive 4 ohm speakers without going into "protection mode". Historically Denon and HK have been the best.

thanks for the replies guys. Keep them coming. I have heard the monitor 11's. Thought they sounded nice. When reading up on everything though it seemed as if for the same price the axioms were a better speaker.

what are you powering them with? I wanted to buy an onkyo 804 or 805. I was told those amps were not great for 4 ohm loads though. I was thinking emotiva ultra theater series???? Almost thinking of buying an onkyo amp as a pre and then an emotiva as the amp? Any suggestions?

I had compared Monitor 11 against Axiom M80 when I decided for my Fronts. On the contrary I liked Monitor 11 better than Axiom. It just sounded better. Axiom M80 I thought was too bright for my taste. I was using the B&K ST-140 to power the speakers.

I auditioned the Axiom m60 "my brother has them" , the monitor 11's and the studio 60's. I thought the imaging was much better with the Paradigm line. both monitor 11's and studio 60's sounded fantastic with the studio 60's a bit better.
