I have a rattle/crackle at high levels. It sounds like one of the ports might be cracked. I can't seem to get the box apart to get inside. I have taken out all the screws but I think it's glued as well. Any ideas? Thanks.
Are you sure it's not the voice coil bottoming out on the back plate? Do you still hear the rattle sound at slightly less than high levels? If you play at high levels and stick your fingers in the port and press slightly, does the sound go away or sound softer? If yes, then it is probably the port. If it doesn't change the sound, then it could be the sub bottoming out. I am sure there are several other things that could cause a rattle noise at high levels.
