I am looking to get 4 studio 20's for my 7.1 setup. I need stands and was told by the dealer I am buying from that they dont stock the 20 speaker stands. He says they are not that great and recommends a cheaper stand.

The stands he recommends are british made by Target. They are model number FS-60, 24".

My question is should I get the Paradigm 20 stands that are $200 per pair or should I get these Target ones that are $100 per pair?

The Paradigm stands are excellent. IMO they are stylish and are well built. You can also fill them with sand or lead shot (additional mass). It may be possible that Target sells a quality stand as well (although I couldn't find the product at target.com).

Any decent & stable mass-loadable stand (fillable with sand or lead shot) should be fine. 24" may be short as that would only get the tweeters at about 36", you may need a 28" stand.

Heh... I think this Target is a manufacturer of speaker stands, not a glorified K-mart (target.com)...

Last time I was in Target (target.com) the closest they came to home theater was a Playstation 2...

I have my Studio 20s on 28" Target stands, I believe the model is FS70. I think 28" gets the tweeter near ear level while seated. Perhaps not as flashy as the Paradigm Premier stands, but still a high quality stand. I filled mine with lead shot from an ammo shop. Now I'm probably on some government watch list.

What about these stands. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=0&cc=02&avf=N

I really want to get stands that are fillable with shot and/or sand. But will the solid wood column provide enough mass to make the speaker sound good? Or is the hollow column and then filling it the best way to go? I really want the NHT Last stands to match my NHT speakers but I am not ready to crack out 200 bucks for 1 pair of stands :(.
