Patience isn't one of my strong sides

Could Somebody please help me. I am doing research everyday on this forum trying to understand all this decoding, bitstream, profile, firmware upgrading, if your a/v reciever can unscramble what is being sent to it. I could go on but I don't think I need to. I just can't seem to grasp all this information, not like you guys. Anyway since you know how smart I'm not can somebody point me in the right directon. I would love to wait for the bd50 but that's where the patience thing comes in to play. Will another bd player suit my needs or should I actually do the waiting thing. Here is what I have. I have a Sony 720p tv, a Onkyo TXSR 803. It has hdmi inputs but it's not 1.3 hdmi. I think 1.1 will be fine for me in a bd. But from what I have been reading I would like all the decoding and reconfiguring done inside the player, cause some of you said it's better if the player does it all. And I don't even now if my a/v reciever does everything. I don't know what bitstream is and this pcm thing. I saw people talk about some of the pannys having LFE problems. Bass is what my HT is about. I would'nt one one that has any LFE problems. And they didn't come out yet with onboard internet hookups till the bd50 hits the stores. So upgrading firmware much be an issue. So I guess what I'm asking is is there a bd player out there that I can use my a/v reciever with to give ne all this new technology with other than 1.3 hdmi and 2.0 profile. Since I know I can't get that yet and my reciever is 1.3. Thanks and sorry I rambled on.

To help understand some of the audio stuff, there's a FAQ in the stickies in the HD-DVD player forum. It discusses the audio aspects of the discs and players and most of it pertains to BD also. Once you understand the trade offs then you will be more equipped to make a decision. T And, all the BD players should be able to play all the BD movies regardless of profile 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. Special feature, etc, may be a different story. And you'll have to wait for all decoding to be done in a player.

It's 'strong suits' ...and if you sit there with the mentality that you immediately must have the best you might miss out on the enjoyment of what you do have. Take your time, the knowledge will come as you read up. As another saying goes, "patience is a virtue".
Its easy... first confirm that your receiver can accept 5.1PCM over HDMI(which I believe it can)

Double check here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&highlight=803

If thats the case, you need a player that can decode the audio internally.

No players can do this all yet(none can decode DTSmasters), but soon will like the BD50 that you mentioned.

Keep reading... it gets easier!

You need the player to decode the new audio formats for you and send it to your receiver. That means your best bet is to wait for the BD50 or buy a PS3, both of which will do this. The "down side" is that no one has gotten a BD50, so we don't know if it will have any issues. On the PS3, while it is highly likely it will get profile 2.0 and DTS-HD MA support, it is not 100% guaranteed.
