I was about to put my htpc together today when the wife asked if we'll be able to pause live tv (sky / satellite)? It was then i realised i didnt even have a tuner card!


What i want to be able to do is run the sky (satellite) through the htpc / maybe record the sky channel im watching or pause that (sky / satellite) channel.

Example:


Say i want to watch 'Supernatural' on 'Living TV' (SKy) through my htpc, but, the wife wants it recording so she can watch it when she gets in...


Or


Say i want to watch 'Supernatural' on 'Living TV' (SKy) through my htpc, but, some one calls me on the phone, can i pause the channel?

Is that possible? If it is what can you recommened?


I have read a little about tuner cards but it seems a little bit confusing

Connected via hdmi to 32" Hd lcd tv.


And its going to be running Win7 + MediPortal (frontend) MyMovies.
