Pay per view listings no problem for Digital Cable

189 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  DrJoe

I just want to point out that everyone complaining about

the lack of pay-per-view info in the Replay guide --

This is NOT strictly true.

I am hooked up to Time-Warner Digital Cable and the guide

has ALL the info on ALL the channels -- including all the

PPV sports, the Adult channels, and the 40 or so PPV Movie

channels.

It would seem that on some systems you DO get PPV info.

Is it only dish systems that have problems? I wonder why

digital cable would be different?

I am glad that you and the rest of the cable people get the PPV channels. But us poor Directv and I assume dish do not. Why I don't know but it been said that the provider TBS can't get the data from directv but can from the cable.. Since this is true of TiVo as well and they are a big parenter of directv makes it a big mystery to most of us. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

p.s. I'm moving out of my apt and buying a house/condo

and hope to be dumping my cable and going Dish or Direct

-- so I hope to join you in your frustration!

Is that InDemand PPV? InDemand PPV is the only PPV provider that I know of that gives info to Tribune.

Just wonderin' if there were others.

I think so -- they always talk say in the adds

"Pay Per View is In Demand on Time Warner Cable!"

I didn't know it was a company, though...

I have Time Warner Cable of NYC (specifically Woodside - Time Warner Cable (Rebuild), zip 11377) and Replay lists my PPV channels, but the information is usually wrong. Channels 58-60 are Time Warner Home Theatre, and the guide information usually lists the correct movies on Channels 59 and 60. However, for Channel 58 it lists In Demand PPV info, which is not correct. Channel 61 is supposed to be In Demand, and the guide does list Ch. 61 as In Demand, except the movies are usually incorrect. Also, PPV movies are often pre-empted for special events (usually on Ch. 61 but sometimes on Ch. 60), though the guide doesn't reflect this.

Also, Channel 62 is Playboy TV (from 10pm to 6am) and Channel 65 is Spice, but neither channel is listed in the guide. I heard that supposedly adult channels don't get listed, but some people are getting these listings.

Not a big deal, since I don't order much PPV, but I thought I'd mention it since the topic of PPV listings came up.

I think this must be a difference from the Time Warner digital and

analog services -- the digital stuff I get has always been correct --

and I get listings for the adult channels too... Of course, like you

say the ppv listing aren't used much by me http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
