Has anyone heard anything about PBS starting their digital channel on May 1?? I emailed PBS back in December and they said "NPT plans on meeting the May 2003 deadline for digital broadcasting. Current plans are to pass through programs available from PBS in HDTV, broadcasting SD the rest of the time."

WNPT obtained a six-month extension to the May 1 deadline:

Judging from the justification they submitted with their application, we won't be waiting anywhere near six months though. They say their contract with the vendor calls for the transmitter to be installed by May 20th. They're sharing an antenna with WKRN so the antenna is already ready.

(the FCC issues extensions in a six-month "one size fits all" length)

I'm certainly looking forward to it. I see PBS DTV from time to time on various Kentucky stations when propagation is up, and it looks GREAT.
