I have HP DV7 and it has HDMI out, I have that connected to my 42" LCD, which is in turn using coax out to feed my 5.1. Can anyone help me with getting Surround sound to my system, when I play anything it only shows 2ch sound..??

That's how it goes. TV will down-convert to 2.0 on all but Tuner input.

Ok I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something... To bad, need to make a change in that..

make sure all your settings in windows are set to output 5.1, and make sure the hdmi port is set to default.


what kind of tv is it? some tv's will output 5.1 from the hdmi port.

As far as i can tell, I have my settings set properly. I think any help with these setting would be great..


My tv is a Phillips 42'' LCD HDTV, I have my audio connected via COAX from the tv into my Sony Home Thertr system. It doesnt have a direct HDMI into the system itself. I get surrond sound from the tv on programing coded with it, and blueray from my PS3.. I just cant seem to get more than stereo out of my pc into the TV HDMI connected.


If you or any one else has any more ideas please help..

your gona have to use spdif out on your pc to the AVR and hdmi video to the tv.
