Hey all, I'm kinda new to this but since I can't get some of my favorite shows in HD here in the butthole of the world, I thaught why not download them. My problem is playing them through my home theater. I can play them on my pc, but the hd part is lost on my 17" monitor when I have a 65" potential monitor just a few feet away!

I have been doing some research, not limiting myself to the local pc "experts", and I'm told it is not possible to get "true" HD to play from your PC to your tv, and the closest I could get is to build my own pc. That is fine until the next sentence, "there is no such thing as a sound card w/ optical output".

Anyway to make a short story long, what type of components do you , who are in the know, recommend investing in? Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Is all this worth the trouble? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx, SidsDad

Erm... ok. I wonder how that magic optical cable from my sound card to my receiver works then ;).

Seriously, a nice and cheap soundcard solution with optical out is the Chaintech 710. As for getting HDTV to display, you need to tell us what your TV accepts for inputs. DVI? Component? Do you have a PC already or are you building one from scratch? And whee exactly are you? ;)

Sure, looks outstanding. You can do a whole lot of things with a PC these days.
