OK, so I bought at Motorola HT-100 HD OTA tuner/set top box. This allows you to change resolutions via the remote. One button cycles through 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i on the component out.

I hook this up to a BenQ PE8700 via the "Graphics" group component connectors. To be very clear: Bottom row; BNC connectors. Supposedly, these are progressive only.

Imagine my surprise when, toggling through all modes on the Motorola, I see the BenQ produce an image for all of them. The BenQ's own little on-screen thingie in the lower right corner that describes source & format even says that (the appropriate ones) are interlaced!!

So, what gives? I thought on the PE8700 component interlace was top row (RCA), and component progressive was bottom row (BNC), and never the two shall meet?

I'm pleased, as this may simplify my cabling/switching when I ceiling mount... I should only need one Component cable.
