Did you manage to fix the overscan on your Philips?

I have Philips 9110d model and suffer from an overscan issue! So I decided to post this with the poll and find out how did it go with you guys who tried fixing this. I've read that some people who tried fixing it by getting into the service menu and the TV just shot off on them and then didn't work! If anyone had any experience please share because I'm thinking on fixing it!!! Thank you

Ratman I know there are two multiple posts, but only one of them is my thread.


A service tech did come down here, and he refused to fix it by saying it's a normal thing!

I do have Users Manual not a Service Manual that's all the TV came with! In the Users Manual it says nothing about an Service Menu of the TV or how to fix an overscan!

If there's excessive overscan, it's not normal. Find another tech.

I know the TV didn't come with a service manual. None do. Buy one.

Or... call someone to perform an ISF calibration.

You think it's better to call another technician then fixing this thing my self? Well I might give it another try!

Yes, I do. You don't know how to fix it. The other tech didn't want to "fix" it and you are unhappy.


Again... if you decide to start messing around in service menus yourself, you better be well aware that you can render the set unviewable and void the warranty.

Yess, Booker could you please explain how you fixed it? Can you get back in the service menu and tell me what #s you put under GEOMETRY? I would greatly appreciate it!

Just so you know... using "his" numbers in your TV may not produce the results you desire.

What you need is the "procedure" and the parameters so you can adjust your set accordingly.


Personally... if you get the info, I see disaster written all over this...

yeah you right! His could be different than mine, and it's probably is!

Well maybe he could tell me how he managed to fix it! a tip or something of what to do! Well I'm leaning more to calling in for another tech, hope they'll agree!

You need access to the service menu.

You need to find/adjust the parameters for horizontal and vertical height/width

You need to find/adjust the parameters for horizontal and vertical position


And... a service manual may help.

OK I tried looking for service manual and it's unbelieveable, no one has it for this model!!! What the %$# is going on? I know I've seen some people fixing this problem with thier service manual but they won't respond to my messeges!

No I haven't tried contacting Philips yet, but I found someone here who managed to have the manual on their PC! He said that it's big so he deosn't know where to upload it! Ratman any ideas?

So I got the service manual and been going through it lately of how to fix this overscan issues! Came across this, not sure what they're talking about, but maybe some of you guys do, here it is...

"1. connect an external video pattern generator to the aerial imput to the TV-set and umput a crosshatch test pattern. Set the generator amplitude to at least 1mV and set frequency to 61.25 MHz channal 3.

2. Set smart picture to NATURAL or MOVEIS

3. Activate the Service Manual menu

4. Choose Horizontal or Vertical alignments

Now the following alignments can be performed." (and it lists the actual HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL alignments).


So the question is what are they realy talking about before perfoming those alignments? Is that some sort of "generator" that can help you out to fix it, or it can be performed without what they said???

Any help guys???
