Pepsi Display Cooler needs service.

My neighbor has a friend who owns a video rental store. About three years ago, this friend gave my neighbor a Pepsi Brand Glass Display Cooler. It is about 5' Tall and about 18" wide and deep. It ran pretty good when he first got it, he kept it in his garage and stored beer and pop in it for the first year or so. Matter of fact, I would swipe beers outta it when I was moving the yard if the garage door was left open.

His garage is not insulated and gets VERY hot in the summer months. He noticed that it was not cooling the pops and beers, so he shut it off. It has been sitting in the garage for about a year not running at all. Tonight, he was cleaning his garage out and asked if I wanted it. I asked what was wrong with it. He didn't know, only said that the compressor kicked in and out constantly.

Sounds to me like a low refrigerant problem.

Anyone here have a background in refrigeration service and any recommendations?

There is a Pepsi service number on the side that I will call tomorrow. I was hoping to just have a local refrigerator repair company take a look at it, and hopefully just charge it back up and inspect for leaks, perhaps oil the compressor.

Most likely it's made by True Mfg.

Contact them and see if they can refer you to someone in your area and/or called around and see if any company repairs True Mfg. fridges.

On another note, I emailed you a while ago about your poster frames.

How did you make this?

What is behind the poster holding it up and do you have anything covering the front of the poster?

Thanks, I will check the tag closer to see who the manufacturer is.

The LightBox was rather simple, but not as fancy as many seen here at the AVS forum.

The sides are 1x4's that I cut 1/4" deep channels into so to slide two panes of glass. The posters are hung between the glass panes and held in place by friction and pressure.

The top and bottom are 1/2" MDF cut in a semi-circle. These also have 1/4" channels cut for the glass to rest in. These are counter-screwed to the top and bottom of the side 1x4's.

There are again two more 1/4" channels at the rear of the 1x4's. This allow for the backboard to slip into that has a string of lights attached to it.

The "cylinders" are 12" sonotubes for concrete casting. Cut vertically in-half. These were sprayed with an aerosolized texturizer, primed with Kilz, then painted with Enamel Aluminum paint. These also add support to the structure, as well as hide the electrical cords and outlets.

Takes about five minutes to change posters..but I only change them every couple months or so.
