Peter Jackson just won a Golden Globe Award as best director for LOTR:Return of the King.I guess they are looking at them as seperate movies instead of the 3 parts being one.

"The Return of the King" has also taken prizes for best motion picture-drama,best original score in a motion picture and best original song.

Congratulations Peter and company.

I think they're looking at them as a whole. Return of the King was the weakest of the three.

Yeah, but that's like a judge saying "the jury will disregard what it has just heard..." :D

A lot of these organizations like the academy and the GG awards seem to like to give out awards to people that actually earned them years ago, using a current film as an excuse.

Of course this is the way it's supposed to be. The Heisman is also supposed to be given to the player who has the best year but it invariable goes to the player who's had a good career even when the current year isn't their best.

Peter Jackson deserved to be nominated and possibly win for Fellowship and Two Towers. The Academy didn't even nominate him for TTT (not GG). They sat back and said we'll just give it to him next year for ROTK.

ROTK isn't the best movie in the series but Jackson is being nominated and winning because they are awarding the whole series.

I for one don't care which film of the trilogy it is for as it is so very well deserved !!!

As far as I'm concerned Jackson ought to get the Lifetime Achievement award (Irving Thalberg award?) for his work on the LOTR trilogy.

I know this usually goes to someone in their 80s or older but if Jackson never makes another film he certainly deserves it for his work on this trilogy alone.

No lifetime achievement award until he finishes "The Hobbit."

Well as much as I think Jackson should get the Oscar I think ole' Clint will come home with that one ... he is a Hollywood Golden Boy after all . I think maybe they gave Jackson the Golden Globe so that they could get away with not giving him the Oscar :( .

Finally Jackson as been given something he deserves. Having watched him flourish from the brilliant Bad Taste to todays Return of the King. He has his knockers, but he is doing a great job!

Um, yeah, OK. You are entitled to your opinion, but you are in the minority.

That catoon version of LOTR and ROTK looks a lil' crappy now compared to the new movies, although they follow the book more accurately.
