just recently the blue output of my PG9Xtra has a sort of split image during high contrast scenes whereby there's a scan line starting from the lower half of the image & slowly moves up. It's like there's a slight delayof some miliseconds between the 2 split image divided by the moving scan line.

This only happen on the blue. I've swapped the bnc R & G with the B, but the problem still persist with the B. I'm running [email protected]

Other than this everything runs fine, it's getting irritating.....

Any ideas b4 I mess with the internals?

Leaking Capacitors. If you are lucky, it's just on the neck board which has the output driver IC on it. You'd need an ESR meter to test the caps. Pobably a 10mF at 250volt. Don't have the book in front of me, but I have been changing out low value high voltage caps lately. At high contrast you are reaching the breakdown point of the voltage rail, my guess. The stiffening caps are usually weak.

Well, that's MY guess. :)

Thks Marc

can I just swap the B neck board leads with G/R at the video out board & must all 3 tubes be connected b4 the pj would fire up?

& do I need to move the B tube outwards b4 I can wriggle out the neck board?

thks for all assistance

Nope, swap them over and see if the problem follows. I have spare boards here if you need them.

aiks....

the problem is on all 3 tubes after carefully looking into the tubes...so that rules out the neck boards....any boards or specific areas I should be looking at??

Thks

Well, then the video output board, or the gain control board.

OR... you may have some ground loop hum in your system.

thought I 'll just post some progress on this issue; tried resitting the boards, bought a capacitance meter to test the suspect caps, wires wrigling.....but to no avail. Gave UP!Learnt to live with the image., then last week reformatted HTPC due to some lagging & hang issues with some games & guess what? the problem had gone away as mysteriously as it had came but games & dvds still hangs.Let me try for some other drivers & see if ALL problems go away.....

Cheers

Well, telling us that you used a HTPC may have been a clue. Drivers can do weird things.

Have fun!
