hold off on that purchase, I just got costco coupon book in mail. There is a coupon on this model from costco for $699-$100coupon==$599, seems like a semi-hot deal. It is the newer line of philips hdtv hdmi version.

Philips 30" 16:9 recommendations?
I'm in the market for a smallish (30-inch) direct view 16:9 HDTV. Best Buy has a decent deal on a new Philips model with HDMI, but the predecessor to this model had forced 16:9 for all 480p input, which would obviously not be ideal for video games. I really have no way of knowing whether this model (30PW8402) improves on this feature.

Which model is this for? Also, what are the dates for use? I never seem to get these coupon booklets early like so many do!
I don't know if you still are looking to buy this tv.. but I recently purchased this tv, and it does not force the 16x9 viewing in 480p mode. you have choices of all the viewing/zoom/stretch modes on the CVI inputs, except when a 1080i input is received on the HDMI input. Which would not effect your Xbox.
