I just bought this 32" set on sale for $379(Huge Sam's club sale down here). Not a bad IMO.

Anyways, the display is a 720p set, but when I hooked it up to my PS3 and ran the Display Settings wizard the PS3 recognized 1080p as an available option.

I was able to pick the 1080p setting (couldn't do this with my old 23" Samsung lcd) and it actually worked. Popped in a couple of BR movies and when I pressed info on the TV remote it said it was at 1080p.

The TV's box, manual and even Philips website clearly states it's a 1366x768p display. ( http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...+32PFL5403D-F7 )

Is this normal? Of course I'm not complaining, but i was curious if other people have had this happened with their displays.

Of course, my other question would be if using it at 1080p would cause any kind of damage to the display?

you can't damage the display like that. philips can accept 1080p signal but it scales it down to 720p (or 1366x768p to be more precise) Actually, I'd say disable 1080p option from ps3 menu and force it to use 720p for games. For movies even 1080i might be better, in your case change it again to 1080p. I have the same model, great lcd tv for the price i must say.
