The HDTV monitors page on twice.com now shows a Philips 60PP9401 and a 55PP9401 as available summer 01. Both are listed as 4:3 RPTVs, and have listed prices around $2800. Does anyone know anything about them? Is the 55PP9401 really 4:3 as they say? There is nothing on the Phiips site.

The 55PP9401 is a 4:3 set currently on display at some Best Buy stores. The set is listed on the www.philipsusa.com site. The main features:
  • 3D Y/C filter (was 3-line digital on older sets
  • Dual component inputs (probably one progressive, one interlaced like on the older sets.)
  • Auto focus
  • HD component format conversion (squeeze/zoom???)

Relative to the older sets, Philips removed the VGA input connector. I strongly suspect RGB input is no longer accepted.
