I have a Philips 32fd9954 plasma, just replaced the power supply board...tv works fine...as far as hookups, the tv has a dvi input, the motorola hd dvr box has an hdmi hookup...i have the hdmi to dvi adapter....when I hooked it up it gave me an error code i had to use the y pb pr? (component cables)..y wouldnt it work with the hdmi to dvi setup...i have separate audio cables for the sound..any help would be appreciated...thanks

Not all DVI ports support HDCP!!! I know my old HDTV didn't. High Definition Content Protection didn't come out until LATE in DVI's life shortly before it was replaced with HDMI on HDTV's!


There really no reason to use HDMI anyway, stick with Component, it'll be just as good to get your HD with. Your only getting 720P or 1080i out of it anyway for your HD TV channels. You can try watching a Blu-Ray using HDMI and see what your results are if you have one, or can borrow one.
