Every time I turn on my Phillips 20PT643R01 CRT TV the closed captioning is on.

Using the "CC" button on the remote gets rid of the closed captioning but it merely returns the next time I power-up the TV.

There is no on-screen menu for closed captioning and I can find no way to reset the TV's settings to factory default. The TV product manual is of no help.

Having to find the TV's remote control each time to turn off the CC kind of defeats the purpose of my having a universal remote. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Can you have a second look in the 'Set Up' section of your user menus?

All of my televisions have the CC there as well as on the remotes.

I would do what tomahawktim said. Sounds like a set up thing to me. Can't be anything wrong with the TV. Let me say, Philips TVs are the BEST, and that's a fact!!
