I'm considering writing a handful of letters to KPHO advertisers about KPHO's lack of commitment to providing the highest quality of viewing experience to the public.


I found the Lloyd Lawrence letter from Meredith's Jody Judge outlining the corporate policy against granting waivers, but was unable to find a specific instance of waiver refusal I thought I had read last summer.


It will not be included in my letters, but I would like to have specific information on hand in the event the advertiser or KPHO contest the assertion. I would appreciate knowing of anyone who was refused a waiver from KPHO for DISH CBS HD service.

HELLO! KPHO will not grand any DISH HD CBS Waivers. They sent me a letter stating this. They also e-mailed me stating this.

For KPHO to refuse to install HDTV broadcasting equipment, and then deny waivers for folks to watch CBS HDTV programming from New York or Los Angeles, borders on criminal behavior, in my opinion.


Meredith and KPHO should be completely ashamed of themselves. Good luck in your fight!

And thanks for the well wishes, Dan. I hope to at least get the marketing guys at the advertisers to ask an off hand question or two when contract renewal time comes around, but you can see the groundswell of interest this idea has generated here in Phoenix HDTV circles....pretty much the same as when I suggested it a year ago. At least it should be therapeutic for me.
