I have been going back and forth between the 50" Pioneer and Panasonic consumer models and have read many of the posts on this forum concerning the pros and cons of the panel characteristics. My own personal opinion is that the Pioneer has "punchier" colors (although not necessarily true to life - especially the greens) and the Panasonic has more realistic colors (particularly in skin tones) although more subdued. What a person likes best is purely subjective and I am not asking folks to weigh in on which color treatment they like better.
What I would like some opinions on in particular is the level of inherent picture noise on a properly set up display. I have walked into showrooms where the Pioneer shines and the Panny doesn't and then I can go to another B&M establishment and the opposite is true. I know that retailers typically do not spend a lot of time fine tuning their displays because they get changed by shoppers, but I have noticed significant artifacts in scenes having motion more often on the Panny compared to the Pio. This could be due to real hardware differences in how incoming signals are handled or it could be just a poor set up.
So for folks that own either set I would be interested in comments concerning picture artifacts when there is motion in the displayed scene (dithering, mosquito noise, etc.) either from HD or DVD source material.
