I just bought my first LCD TV (46 inch). Will watching 4:3 tv shows (piilarboxed) cause any kind or burn in in the black areas (where the pillarboxing is)? Thank you

Generally, no. The term "burn in" is left over from the CRT days when physical damage could occur. "Image retention" is more accurate for lcd panels. It can happen, but when it does it is usually reversible by watching a full screen program, or turning the set off for a period of time. This effect usually only occurs in a commercial situation where a static image is held for very long periods, and not in a tv situation. If you think you see some after-image, just watch some HiDef and relax.
