Brad, do you have better photos of the side panels on your false screen wall? It appears from the dark photos I see that the side panels actually angle in towards the wall instead of going straight across. Did you need to do this to make room for the bass traps? Can you show a photo of how you keep the side panels in place and how they attach on the side wall and at the false wall? I like the minimal framing of the false wall with the open space on each side...I need this since I need to access a circuit panel on the end of my false wall but can't figure out how you attached the end panels with that minimal framing. Thanks in advance.
I'll have to take some better pictures, I don't think I have any better ones than I've posted. Yes, they angle in at about a 30 degree angle to the front wall. The angle wasn't necessary to accommodate the corner bass traps, I just didn't like the look of the screen wall being dead flat, couldn't think of any better design, so went with the angled panels - it was really sort of a quick and dirty thing to get the room done, and I've always had the intent to come back and maybe dress them up somehow, but I guess I've decided they're "good enough" - may recover them in triple velvet, currently they are the same material as the bottom of the soffits.

They are mounted just using friction fit at the top and bottom - made them tight enough that I can align the top and then shove the bottom in, and the carpet and pad has enough give to it to make it a snug fit, they never move at all, but I can still slide them out if I need to get back there for whatever reason. The panel below the screen is also friction fit, the one over the screen is held in place by the same ball/socket speaker grill connectors that I used on the rest of the wall panels.

Looking at how you attached your screen with the piano hinge, can you tilt the screen without removing the top screen wall panel?

Sorry, I thought I replied long ago, but looks like I didn't - no, I have to remove the top panels (it's actually split in the middle) to hinge the screen up.

Outstanding job I love it!

I was wondering did you plan for ATMOS, Auro 3D and DTS:X

Also could you build mine!
Not sure yet - probably at some point when my receiver dies. :)

And of course! Now let me send my fee schedule haha

Hey Brad- Just stopping by to congratulate you on HTOM. Work and other hobbies have kept me from visiting AVS like I used to, but when I saw your room in the HTOM email, I wanted to drop in and give you two thumbs up. As you know, your room was a big inspiration when I was doing mine and I appreciate all the time you took to answer my questions as well as send me the "box o' fabric". :) Hope things are going well.

Both of your fabric frame theaters were inspirations for mine, so, thank you both!

let me pile on way to go man you and others were for sure my insperation. I love my Constant Image Area 2.0:1 screen! :D Had it not been for you I would have been 2.40:1 format like everyone else. Ever over scan a football game to 2.40:1 format. I only lose about 5" off the botom of the screen and it is wall to wall FOOTBALL. And I don't even like foot ball it was like I was on the Friging front line!

I do that with 16:9 movies sometimes too, shhh, don't tell anyone ;) With triple black velvet above and below the screen, noone notices unless I tell them.

Enjoyable read through of an old thread. Bloody fantastic HT. Would love to of seen some photos detailing the build process for the fabric panels, in terms of timer used etc.
