Pio 4304(costco) vs panny

1195 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  gohd
Just wanted some last minute feedback before making final decision. Been waiting for new shipment of pio's at costco, but reading extensivly on this forum starting to like the panny's. I can find the panny 42phd7uy for about $500 more than pio at costco. Is this something to consider or is the costco return policy to good a deal to pass up? This will be first plasma buy so any help is appreciated.

I'm also trying to decide between Panny & Pio.... I really want a black bezel.

One thing to figure into your calculations is the 7UY Panny's will require an HDMI blade. From what I've seen, they are approx $145 online.

Went through the same thing, then snagged a 4312 (which is the Costco model) when they re-appeared on costco.com.

Return policy was/is key, as was the brighter display for my bright room, better scaler for SD watching, 43" screen and the other very positive Pio comments. Though I have nothing bad to say about the Panny.
Agree that costco's good return policy is hard to overlook. I have an 1120 that I wish had purchased from costco (would've if they carried Elites), so I coulda returned it the moment I noticed the infamous 'buzz.' Basically, really can't go wrong if you buy from costco, cuz no restocking fee and no real time limit on returns (I think?!). If you no like, back it can go, in line right behind the guy returning some old fruit.
I tend to agree that the pio and costco's return policy are hard to beat. Thanks for the input, my local costco is supposed to get 11 units tomorrow. I called tonight and there were not yet "in transit" so hopefully this weekend.
I bought this unit from Costco and love the picture. I could not be happier...
Where is this wonderful Costco return policy stated in writing? I din't see anything on their website.

They don't have it in writing. They make the rules. If it gets abused, they'll eliminate it.
I'd call, if it's not listed in the item description or under an FAQ or something. As far as I know, the only items with a stated limit are computers (6 months) and cigarettes, pretty much no questions asked. I returned a $2500 notebook in-store, after 4-5 months, with no hassle. Of course, bringing back a notebook is easy, a PDP is another issue.

I just got notification that my 4312 has shipped! Yee haw!:D

bizwell - Two questions for you:

1. What hookups do you have going?

2. What settings are you using for each input?

Thanks!

It looks like the return policy is already getting abused. Are you telling me that you can return a laptop computer after 4-5 months and get a full refund no hassle?

Why buy electronics? Just "rent" them for free from Costco. What am I missing?
For me, I keep 99.5% of the things I purchase from Costco, which is probably their reason for having such a good return policy. For the laptop, I had a good reason to return it. But, I'm sure people do abuse it. Costco still makes their money by re-selling refurbished products online (e.g. computers) or selling them to discount re-sellers. I always felt paranoid that after returning the laptop, my membership's been red-flagged and I'll be embarassed at the checkstand one day by some Costco bigwigs. But, it hasn't happened yet.
