There is a DVD player announced in Europe (Pio 868) which has HDMI and a special chip which scales the pic up to 1280 x 720.

I wonder if this makes any sense. The plasma has 1024/1366 x 768 native resolution. I am not buying a HDMI player to have the signals processed and scaled TWO times.

Any comments ? (why should that make sense ?)

it doesn't but since when manufaturers do they care about "sense" ?

by the way, there is the materhorne HD2 matrix for DLP projector with a 1280*720 native resolution like "optoma H76" :) and hopefully, it has a dvi-hdcp input, not bad at all !!
