Whats a better hookup for my pioneer 5070?

SVGA or DVI to HDMI

I currently use my tv for EVERYTHING!! Games / Watching blue ray / hd dvd / and internet browsing

My contrast is high and i have never had burn-in or image retention.

thanks in advance!

What are you wanting to connect? A PC or game system are about the only things you can use the RGB input for. The RGB input also has less adjustments available for picture tweaking. I believe that's fine for PC use, but it is probably best to use HDMI or component input for most if not all video. Just my opinion.

One nice thing about the RGB input for PC use is that it will do 1:1 pixel mapping and accept a 1360 X 768 @60Hz resolution. With HDMI you'll have to use 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p/24 and then the tv will scale to 768p.

You could try both connections and see what you like best.

SVGA will not carry any HD signal. You stuck with 480i.

Yes it does. I use SVGA and am sending my Pio 1360 X 768 like I said it will accept in my post above. The cable itself will carry much higher resolutions than that.

INCORRECT. 1360x768 IS basically a 720p(1 megapixel)HD signal. A top quality analogue signal that ends up being the best input on the Pioneer,Samsung and a few other TV's from many people's perspective. If your a 360 gamer. VGA set to 1360x768 widescreen on "Expanded" mode and your set.

It should be, but like I said, try both out and see what you like.

I am sure you are aware as you said you were already using the vga connection that you will have a couple of unused rows of pixels on the sides. Its certainly not a big deal for casual pc use but I wouldn't want to run it that way all the time. I would consider treating the pc connection the same as watching SD with the black bars on the side. Just keep it to 10% of total viewing and i doubt you will have any issues with BI. Just wanted to make sure you were aware as i didnt notice the unused rows until i had mine hooked up for a while.

I agree with what Kr8z1 said. Keep in mind is that the VGA input does not have as many tweakable settings as HDMI. This is the case on the Elite. So in my case, I've determined the picture from the xbox360 is better on my calibrated component over the VGA, even though the VGA gives 1360x768.

If you are just using the vga for PC to do web browsing and stuff, then it should be awesome. If you are really looking for video quality, you probably want to consider using HDMI, as the HDMI can be better callibrated then the VGA. (You could probably do the same callibration through the video card driver, but it's a lot more painful.)
