I have a pioneer 1016 and its great except for when i play a dvd with dts. For some reason all of the dialog comming out of the center sounds like crap. It sounds very hollow and bassy. Very hard to follow the charcters lines. When i play the same dvd in 5.1 dd it sounds great. Any ideas. I have gone in and tried to adjust my center's frequency's to no prevail. i am rather stumped and i cant listen to DTS.


By the way i am using my xbox 360 as the dvd player could that maybe be the source of the problem?

Are the discs you are trying to play DTS encoded? And if they are you have to select DTS on the disc's menu. Otherwise , no clue why.

Yes they are DTS disc and DTS displays on the receiver when playing. I can put the same disc in and play it at 5.1dd and it sounds fine.

I also have Pioneer 1016, and DTS works just fine. Maybe it has something to do with x box.

The xbox 360 has problems with dts encoded dvds and that's why you have a glitch,so get a separate dvd player for movie watching and leave the xbox for games.
