Friends:


Would somebody 'splain to me why the Pioneer 1000hdi which does not have speakers costs more than a 1110hd which DOES have speakers? The two units look the same to me.

the 1000hdi is a monitor, while the 1110hd is a television with a tuner and speakers, etc. the 1110hd is a generation younger than the 1000hdi (3rd v. 4th i cant remember) and has many extras not found on the 1000hd. do a search look for posts from 'ross in toronto' who really knows his way around this display and describes it well.


as for the cost, well who actually pays MSRP? i think if you try you can get the 1000hdi for cheaper than the 1110hd. the deal i got on the 1000hdi allowed me to step up from the 43" to the 50" good luck.

Thanks very much for some solid information. I'll rattle around and try to find something form ross in toronto. I'm torn between one of the Pioneers and the Sony 50xbr950 -- -- a close call by my eye and all accounts.

The 1110HD has 10 bit processing while the 1100 is 8 bit.

i really like the display. i 've posted about it before, click on my profile, you can read some of my longer posts if you like. some one will probably jump on me for this, but when i saw the 1000hdi and the 910hd (43") together, i didn't see any real difference. they obviously are diffferent, but not to my eye. (i dont know if i can discern the difference between 16mm and 1 bil colors, or whatever). i also did not need/want speakers or a media box, so the plasma "monitor" was really what i was looking for anyway. what clinched the deal was something you either love or hate: the black bezel frame, it appealed to my wife.


if it suits your needs, i think you'd be very happy with it. once again, good luck, nick

In the thread, above, I had wondered when the next generation of Pio's would be coming out. Since then, someone picked this up on the 'net:

Not sure what the next generation of panels will do to the prices of the existing ones.


I'm also not sure why you see the 1000HDi for more than the 1110HD, since the initiator of the first thread, above, was asking if the 1110HD was worth the *extra* 3k.


There's also been some chatter about 24 vs. 30 bit colour (i.e., 8 bit processing vs 10 bit). Most people (everyone?) haven't seen a difference, but this may be because I think virtually all of the HD and DVD source material is 24 bit to start with.
