I have a 4280 connectet via component cables from the Fios cable box to the TV for my wife who prefers just the TV speakers.


When I run the panel via HDMI from the cable box thru my Pioneer SC01 to the panel via HDMI the picture is considerably less bright.


Does the reciever need calibrated also?

I would love to pick up the KRP-500 or 600 but the wife says no go since it's a 100 degrees here in SoCal and my A/C took a dump. Oh well, maybe in a few years the others will catch up to Pioneer. Or maybe they will get back into the plasma business. one can only hope.

Try running the HDMI connection directly to the TV first and see if brightness has changed from component to HDMI that way. If it has, either the TV is doing something different for HDMI or the receiver to doing some adjustments before it gets to the TV.

Try bumping up the contrast on your HDMI input.
