I have a new VSX-55TXi receiver. I've run the auto MCACC which calibrates the distance of my speakers, as well as putting an EQ on them. I don't know if that last part is a good idea. I see it adjusted my speakers all out of whack. +4DB here, +2.5DB at this level, etc. Aren't most good speakers built to be flat anyway? Should I leave the settings which calibrated the distances and volume level, but turn off EQ? Or should I leave enabled the settings which adjusted the speaker EQ at different frequencies? It just seems so unnatural - considering that most audiophiles think any kind of EQ, bass or treble adjustments are wrong, even if it did seem to make them sound the same.

What do you do?

all speakers perform differently in every room....

the eq applied corrects the speakers response to the room that you are in....

but more importantly... how does it sound to you???

i have the 55txi as well and the improvement with the MCACC is very noticible..... also the stereo imaging improved greatly......

cheers!

it depends upon the recording....
