My Pioneer Elite RPTV (710 Model) has started making a funny sound. About once a day, we'll hear a soft/faint "pop" noise and the picture will instantaneously "flicker" (gets dark then light then reverts to normal). This happens in less than a second. I know I'll need to get someone to come out and look at it, but wanted to know what to expect. Like I said, it seems to happen about once/day

Thanks!

Also, the high-voltage leads to the CRTs could be breaking down and arcing. Higher humidity/temperatures can contribute to arcing. Sometimes repositioning, cleaning off dirt, or replacing them helps, but obviously it's not something to tinker with unless you're familiar with high-voltage hazards. (Tubes/circuits can zap you, fatally, even when they've been off for a while.) Tubes arc internally, too, since aging creates buildups on tube components. -- John
