So my local best buy has the Elite SC-05 marked down to $440, which I purchased on sight. It is an open box special, the reason for the mark down being that the front panel door is bent. I had them test everything prior to purchasing the unit, and confirmed that the manufacturer's warranty and Best Buy's return policy would stay in effect (which they do).


My budget for a receiver was--and would remain to be--about 300-500 dollars. I snatched this receiver because I thought it was a great buy.


Does it make sense for me to keep the SC-05, which I understand is about a year old, or return it and buy something else?

$440 for an $1800 receiver... umm, KEEP it!!


I have the SC-05 and love it, just bought it about a month ago. The only real differences between it and the just-released model are some extra HDMI ports and a few minor convenience features. Oh, and the $1700 price tag!

well that makes a lot of sense. I just didn't know if the technology year-over-year increased dramatically making the lower priced (albeit, newer) low-end model comparable to last year's higher end product!

$800 is a good price... I got mine for $700 from the 6ave name-your-price about 4-6 weeks ago and was pretty happy about it until I saw the $440!!
