Pioneer or Panasonic in Europe? Pioneer cheaper!

I am mulling over whether to get the Pioneer or Panasonic plasma (have not decided 42/43 or 50" yet). The weird thing is that here in Europe, Panasonic is not as cheap (relative to Pioneer) as it is in the USA.


e.g. I can buy the Pana 50PV 500E for 4700Euro (about USD 5,600) or the Pioneer 506FDE (basically a 5060, but with media box) for 4400Euro (USD 5,280).


If I go for the Pana 42PV500E it is about the same price as the Pioneer 436FDE (4360 with media box), which is 3000Euro (USD 3,600).


Most opinions on Pioneer vs Pana I have seen are predicated on Pana being cheaper. Does Pana being the same price (or more expensive) change any opinions?


Is anyone aware of these sets being better/worse than in the US market?
