Hi guys,
I was shopping around for a new LCD or plasma screen. My primary input will be via a PC, so I brought my laptop to the store to test them out.
Laptop has an ATI X600 with analog VGA output.
One of the displays I tested was a Pioneer PDP- 436HDG (this is the Asian equivalent of the 4360 sold in the US). Everything went beautifully and I was about the go for this panel, until there were fast-moving scenes are I noticed there was screen tearing (no vertical synchronization)! I tried different resolutions, different refresh rates 60hz and 75hz, but all had tearing.
I was honestly disappointed. The only other display I had this experience with was a very old LG 42" plasma. I was surprised the latest model Pioneer still had not taken this into account.
The Panasonic 42" (7th gen) I was using before had no tearing problems. Neither did the Toshiba, Sharp or Sony LCDs that I tested (unfortunately these had other issues for PC input).
Out of interest, can owners of the 4360 or 5060 confirm if using the PC (VGA) input you have or do not have v-sync / tearing problems?
