I finally figured out what TV I want. The Pioneer PRO-730HD. Any powerbuys out there for it? What is the best price around? Harvey on LI wants $5,400.00. I stopped by another place, and he offered me a demo 710 for $5,000.00 delivered. How is the 710 compared to the 730?

Definitly go with the 730. The 710 is at least two years older and being a demo I would be concerned. Here is a brief list of the advantages of the new 30 series Elites over the 10 series:

1. 2 DVI inputs

2. Accepts 720p signal, upconverts to 1080i. 10 and 20 series Elites will not accept a 720p signal.

3. New Pioneer Pure Cinema III line doubler. Allows the user to select to view sources in either 480p or 1080i. 710 uses Pure Cinema I.

4. Redesigned User menu that is extremely easy to navigate.

5. Redesigned service menu that is more flexible.

6. Has a "Pro" mode which allows user to more fine tune settings. I don't see this as a big deal.

7. Anti-reflective protective screen.

8. Improved Blue gun.

9. No red push according to Dave Levy, a calibrator on the Home theater spot who has already ISF'd several 30 series Elites. I believe the 20 series had some slight red push that is not correctable with calibration.

10. Finer pitch on lenticular screen.

11. 30 series Elites do NOT lock into full mode with 480p input . The 10 series DOES lock into full mode with 480p material.

For a ~$500 difference, I wouldn't even consider a 710., especially one that's been a demo and the Pioneer warrenty is probably expired. I would absolutly go with the 730. I myself have a 530 and I love it. The Elites are well worth the money.
