Hi Guys, new to the forum and hoping for a little help with my set-up.

 

Running a Samsung 40" 6400 TV with a Samsung BR player/recorder.   Now have introduced a Pioneer VSX 523 receiver into the equation.  BR connected to receiver via decent HDMI and receiver connected to TV via (again) decent HDMI cable.  Also have CD player going to receiver.   Have two only front speakers connected ATM.

 

TV and CD sound to speakers work well through the receiver.  However, BluRay and DVD have problems.   Some play with the voice track slightly out of synch (annoying); but more of a problem is that on some disks the voice track is very faint - normal volume for music and other sounds, but everyone speaks in a whisper. 

 

I'm guessing it's a setting problem with the Pioneer but the instruction book is of little help.

 

So if anyone has advice with something to try, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Update:

 

Ripped out the HDMI cables and checked their veracity by connecting each in turn BD to TV.   Both worked OK.  Then reconnected them via the Pioneer as before.  Checked with a BR disk and - surprise, surprise - the 'whisper' problem has resolved itself.   However, I'm still left with that annoying out of synch problem.

 

Any ideas?
