Pioneer vsx-70 with Sharp Elite HDTV 70 inch and really old Bose speakers

585 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  ravi27

Here's my issue: When watching TV, weather from the cable box or the apple TV, when people speak the sound seams very faint, but the surround sound is loud.  Trying to figure out how not to have to turn the volume every time people are talking and turn it down when people are shooting or things are blowing up or whatever.

Here's my setup: Sharp Elite TV, Pioneer VSX-70 receiver, TiVo from RCN, and Apple TV.  One HDMI cable from the TV to the receiver.  The TV is setup to use the sound from the HDMI cable.  TiVo and Apple TV connect to pioneer receiver via HDMI as inputs

Speakers - I have 3 speakers in the front, and 2 in the back.  these are about 18 year old Bose cube speaker with 2 subwoofers.  One in the front and one in the back.

I think that covers it.  This is my very first post, so I thank everyone in advance for any help/input you can provide.

You can fix the center channel (dialogue channel) easily by raising its level in MCACC. But you would certainly benefit from new speakers.

That helped some, but I think I need to spend a little on speakers to get the best of the system.
