Well, if they would just drop the prices on those bad boys to make them more reasonable, they would sell like hot cakes. It is hard to justify buying the FHD1 when you can drop ~2 grand more for a 65" Panasonic 1080p set.

If you need a 65 inch screen size that would be true. For me its competition came from the other 50 inch technologies.

I heard about this deal from a guy that works at the Best Buy Magnolia in the Woodlands, TX

although it seems like a cool deal, it seems a bit silly to buy 2 plasma screens of the same size where one is so much better than the other. I wouldnt want 2 65" with one being inferior to the other. I'd much rather have taken a 3k price break.

The PDP-5016 is a derivative model with the same 7th Gen panel found on the other Pionner Electronics 50" 768p plasma. Go to

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...457717,00.html

for full details

As for availability, Pioneer is initially shipping the PDP-5016 separately after shipping the dealer Pro-FHD1(s)

Soon they will be shipped together, according to a Pioneer Elite dealer I spoke with.

Yes.

The deal breaker for me is the fact that you have to pay full MSRP on the PRO- FHD1 to get the second free panel.

I'm interested in buying a ProFHD1, but like (just about) everyone else, I don't want to pay $8K for it and I'm not in the market for two 50" panels.

So, with respect to this twofer deal:

1. What can you tell me about the "freebie"? Is it a quality, marketable display?

2. What is the list price, street price, and ebay/Craig's List price for the freebie?

3. How difficult would it be to sell the second unit? Would the dealer buy it back for inventory?

4. Any suggestions for optimizing the twofer deal for someone who only wants/needs one 50" panel?

Thanks for your help, Andy

All price talk is supposed to be limited to only MSRP. To find out the current selling prices for new/street plus all the other prices you want to know. I suggest you start doing searchs on the Pioneer PDP-5016HD, as well as on the various places where you wish to see what they may be selling for used.
