In 1976 the Viking 1 spacecraft photographed what appeared to be a "face" on the surface of planet Mars.

Each pixel in that original photograph represented an area 43 meters wide on the planet's surface.

For twenty-five years the flying saucer buffs and conspiracy

theorists around the world were convinced that the face was proof of the existence of intelligent life on Mars.

In April of this year the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft photographed the "face" again. This time the resolution was greatly increased and each pixel in the photograph spans an area only 1.56 meters (6.6 feet) wide.

Interestingly, the new higher resolution photograph has

received almost no attention in the popular press. And

almost no acknowledgement from the flying saucer and

conspiracy crowd.

Here you can see both photographs... http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2....htm?list70732

What does this have to do with home theater you might ask?

Simple.

If Dean McManis were to project this image (the 2001 version) onto even his huge screen at life-size scale he would only be looking at two (count em, two) pixels.
