PJ for Conference Center

1112 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  bwhitmore
My company is purchasing a new building and they want a dedicated conference center. Their plan right now is 3000sq ft in a rectangular configuration. They want a projector that can do a 12' screen with good brightness. They were asking about 3000 lumens. Is that too bright? Not bright enough? I'd like to get something with at least 1280x1024 res, but is that really necessary? Would 1024x768 do? I respect the opinions of people on this forum, so any thoughts are appreciated. I'd like to spend no more than 4 grand. If there's something close to that mark that people like, please let me know. Keep in mind that this projector will be used mostly for presentations (power points and websites with possibly playing DVDs or other videos). DVI, VGA, Component would all be great. What kind of screen should we go for? Thanks for your help!

Do you have a budget? SIM2 recently introduced a commercial projector (ProC3) which would certainly light up your screen, but it is priced a little north of twenty Gs.
The 20 grand is definitely out of the budget. Like I said above, I'd like to spend around $4000 for the projector. Also, any advice on a screen is more than welcome. Thanks!

I think Projector central will be a great place for you to search. On this forum all we care about is how a movie looks. There are however many professionals here who install projectors in situations like yours all the time. Hopefully one of them will be able to give you some guidance.

I like the idea of the Canon projectors for their high resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio and flexibility.

single chip DLP is usually not recommended for presentation because you never know who in your audience might find rainbows distracting.

We have a 6 year old Proxima LCD in our conference room here at work and it has worked well, but video looks terrible on it.

CCI solutions sell hundreds of projectors to churches, they should be able to give some good guidance. I think they mostly sell sharp. I don't like to mention dealers other than AVS on the forum, but in this case I don't them as competitors.
