Wow, I'm amazed at how quickly I'm using up my "precious" lamp life hours.

For those of you that didn't follow my HT build thread. I completed my room and bought a Panasonic AE-4000U in December.

I finally checked the hours on my lamp and was amazed at how much we are using it....before I bought this PJ I would have guessed I watched maybe 3-4 hours of TV/day...maybe 25 hours/week. Had an old Mitusubishi 48" Rear Projection....

Course I didn't have a "too comfy" home theater, or Blockbuster by mail, nor DirecTV, nor a new PC running XBMC......as soon as I rec'd the PJ had thought through the whole lamp cost issue and justified it easily at $0.10 - $0.15 per hour, heck I knew my "downtime" was easily worth a few dollars/day, why else did I work except to enjoy the fruits.

I quickly found I (and my family and friends) thoroughly enjoyed sports, movies and XBOX far more than I ever have before. So the fire started burning...

My "in service date" was 12/5/2009 on 2/8/2010 I had logged 405 hours. About 6.5 hours/day, now realize I leave the house at 5:30 am and don't return home from work until 6p or 7p most nights (M-F). Course weekends are another story...

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not really worried since I had done the cost justification and I figure that my lamp will last until Oct at 2,000 hours or maybe August 2011 at 4,000 hours. And the cost per hour is still cheap but I really do wonder once you buy a PJ and/or HT how many hours per day are you & yours enjoying it?
