Place to buy Definitive Technology?

383 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  John H
I know this has probably been asked already, but I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me where, either mail order or locally around NYC, that I could get good pricing on DefTech speakers?

So far the couple of places I checked are high end places that are charging full retail and don't do deals...

Thanks,

Gergg

Alvinhlau,

How do you like the performance of your PF18TL? I don't run across many people using this model.

I use a pair in my setup. I pass the LFE signal through an Audio Source Phase Coupled Activator for some added low end.

Geez, hope you have a big space to fill...
I use them in my bedroom based system in conjuction with a pair of Clark Synthesis tactile transducers for dedicated LFE channel reproduction.

I pass the LFE signal feeding the subwoofers through the Audio Control Bass Coupled Activator and on to a Paradigm X-30 low passed at 80Hz. I have the Low Pass crossovers in PF18's in their bypass mode.

The LFE signal suppling the TT units is not being synthesized but does pass through another X-30 unit that is low passed at 70Hz.

My system can be accessed through the below link:

John,

Your system is amazing! I can't imagine that much bass energy in such a small room. I hope you consulted a physician before you fired up the system for the first time. Maybe you should hang a sign outside your door to limit your liability should someone have their internal organs liquified. I'm wondering if you've measured SPLs and low frequency extension of your system? Also, I've noticed you don't use any acoustic treatment. I'm assuming with such a small room the node occurs very high (probably around 60Hz or so?). Isn't this a problem with all that bass? Seriously though, it's a great system.
Steve,

Do you have the name and phone number of the salesman you talked to? I would like to call them first.

Thanks,

Gergg

I guess you were so pulverized by bass that maybe you hadn't noticed the bed just yet.
I thought that was a carnival ride! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
