Hi,

Just got DirectTV with dual LNB and two recvr's. (Free-after rebate, and with 12 mo. sign up at best buy; includes installation.)

I'm ok with two recvr's for now (until my wife goes out of town long enough for me to get a third one..). When I add a multi-switch to add a third, fourth receiver, does it matter where I put the multiswitch (close to the LNB's, close to the receivers (or one of them, anyway), or wherever is convenient).

Also, what are some decent brands of multiswitches.

All the multi-switches that I've seen are built for outdoor use, so close to the dish is probably easiest. Many dishes have mounting holes on the back to allow you to attach the switch directly to them. This certainly reduces cabling.

That being said, if it's convenient to mount the switch indoors, I have to believe that getting it out of the weather can't hurt.

I mounted mine in the basement under the stairs. By mounting inside you reduce the number of cables coming into the house. I'm using a 3x8 Channel Master without any complaints.
