I have a living room HT setup in the works and wanted to explore options to hide the subwoofer.

There are two closets adjoining the living room. Would it be possible to essentially convert a subwoofer to a builtin subwoofer by creating a hole in the drywall and placing the subwoofer inside the closet in line with the wall. As there are two closets I could then get away with a couple of beefy subwoofers.

Thanks for any suggestions/comments

It will work fine.

The only issue is that subs don’t perform their best near openings in the wall. So you’re probably going to have some nulls in frequency response.

Still – if that’s what it takes to get “beefy” subs, I’d do it. I’m currently stuck with a less-than-optimal sub location which resulted in a null, but it looks worse on a graph than it sounds.
