You guys probably know all about this but over the weekend I made the discovery. When I first got my plasma I noticed it got fairly hot. After reading the threads on this forum I decided to turn the brightnes and contrast down a bit until I got time to do a calibration. I noticed it seemed a little cooler but figured it was maybe a change in ambient room temp. Well, last night I brought home a new DVD which left fairly large bars across the top and bottom. I cut the brightness and contrast down another two notches since I was doing other stuff while watching it. (Why leave it bright when you are basicly using it as backround noise?) After the movie was over I noticed it was hardly warm at all! Other than one spot at the top center it actually felt cool to the touch. Well, Duh, I guess. Just thought it was interesting.

Of course I let it play. Read the burn in thread. Apparently it takes a lot to actually burn in a screen. Besides, if it burned in that quickly I wouldn't want it anyway. :)

I do however take precautions when appropriate. If I were to play a few movies at full brightness with the bars I would probably try to play a few full screens next.
