Plasma panel calibration

514 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  Jim Boden
I just pulled the trigger on my very first plasma panel and expect delivery of my new Pio 4340 in a couple of days. I have read postings here discussing calibration DVDs, etc., and am wondering whether I should pick up such a calibration DVD in anticipation of the arrival of my new TV and, if so, which one.

I am planning to buy the Sony 975 up-converting DVD player, which I will connect via HDMI, and have a Comcast DVR digital cable box that I will connect via DVI-to-HDMI.

I would be grateful for any sound advice on how to get the best PQ out of this set up, including, but not limited to, best practices for calibrating the Pio PDP (if that is, indeed, something that I should do at all).

Thanks in advance from this newbie!

If you’re a perfectionist, I recommend getting an ISF calibration. Calibration DVD’s do help, but they can’t calibrate grey scale, which is most important. For more information, go to http://www.imagingscience.com/
