LOL...some moronic statements..."inexpensive plasmas don't look very good"...in comparison to inexpensive LCD's they look like Pioneer Elites...then they talk about the myth of plasma burn in and then get some geek that still subscribes to the myth who advises people who game not to get a plasma...they reinforce the myth after they denounce it in a sentence earlier....where do these guys come from....geeze.
Isn't pcmag the same place that said A550 had black levels comparable to a kuro?

That article is full of contradictions. I wish Pioneer hadn't priced themselves out of the market. If they had marketed the 500M at a $1500 price point earlier on, many consumers that are snatching up Samsung B750's would probably be Pioneer owners right now. I made the switch recently but only because I did the proper research. Before that, I even subscribed to the myth that burn in was a major issue with plasmas and the seemingly dim picture at showrooms was off putting.
Why didnt they plummet last year. I see you can get a 65 Panny for 2800 now. Wow!!

And if they sold them for 10 bucks each they would've sold even more.

Sarcasm aside, a more reasonably priced display from Pioneer would have sold like hot cakes. It's too bad they got hit so hard financially and had to leave the market. Supposedly they are working on OLED technology but the rumored entry price will be $10,000 lol! I guess they haven't learned their lesson.
Hey, $10k for a big OLED from Pioneer would certainly make me think...
Load of crap from a 3rd rate source. LCD will always be a second or third rate product untill they solve the viewing angle issue. It appears they can't since no progress has been made recently.

The author seems to be a journalist, who has no need to suppress all but a single view of matters.

That journalist should double check his research before writing an article based on erroneous facts.

My mistake 3000 for a 65 but still a damm good deal, I paid 2800 just this March for my 58 800u which btw is the heaviest thing I have ever lifted.

Hey appreciate that, very dooable. Now if only 0ne call will carry it so I can get it with 18 mos 0%.....unless cleveland plasma will allow me to make pmts. :)

That's cheaper than the 65 850u I just picked up by a couple hundred. Wonder how they compare. Nice price point for this size.

The S1 and V10 will both outperform the 850U...

This article is just recycling a WSJ article I read a couple weeks ago. And that article was filler. It had no facts or depth at all. It was just a generic way to fill a page. The headline grabbed your attention then the article said nothing.
23% Increase In Plasma Sales Boosts Samsung SDI Profits

Not much of an article, but its good to read the plasma marketplace keeps chugging along.

Just the headling "LCD's Edge" .........he he, what edge. It is amazing that so many do not know that plasma is far better

The manufacturing technology is still imprving but the drop of prices was much more visible for the LCDs than plasmas. But at the same time, plasmas power consumption has been improved. I wouldn't go for plasma anyway cause the todays price is too high when compared with the technology advancements. I found several great deals for LCD here

and I'm convinced the LCD TVs for sale can't get much cheaper in the next year or so.
