Anyone here ever heard of Design Unlimited. They seem to make really nice Plasma TV stands.

Chris J,

very nice stuff, do you know the pricing on these stands

Carlos
I also thought that Design Unlimited Product's RIALTO 1 was nice stuff. So, I E-mailed inquired [email protected] about it in September 03, when the Euro was a lot weaker. The response was "New Retail price on this unit is $1795". I have not requested an update on the price since then.

Good luck

Wise decision :D :D :D
It's nice but it's not worth that price.
This may be a cool looking design, but is it practical? Where you gonna put your center channel? Isn't it likely you'll have more equipment and need more rack space.

Now if there's enough room to park the center on the shelf below the panel, and you're planning to place your source gear in some other location(probably requiring longer cable runs), this may work and make a great visual statement. But I'm betting the shelf isn't tall enough for a decent center channel.
I don't own one of their products, but they have continually made improvements in style more accomodating to plasmas.

I won't comment on price, but you usually get what what you pay for.

Ya know, viewing these pieces of furniture, I'm inspired to..

buy wood, cut wood, shape wood, stain wood, save mucho $$$, and have the ego boost of...I MADE IT!!

But that's just me.

This after market stuff is just getting tooooo costly for my tastes.

With a little ingenuity, and some sweat equity....you could save boo coo $$$, and get to boast of your prowess in the tool shed!!

Of course, you gotta have the time and inspiration.

Cheers, VB

Thank you Mr. Biggles for posting Design Unlimited’s new plasma stands. I think they are gorgeous and make a definite statement.

I particularly like the security of the stand being integrated into the base rather being simply held just by gravity.

Are their similar [to Mr. Biggles post] hi-end stands made by other manufacturers?
My first post.

I love the Plasmatron. Lucky for me I have a cousin who works in South Africa. I have asked him to check out pricing for me and the cost of shipping it. I don't know the next time he would be coming to the US. It's either this or the Bello Plasma stand which is also very nice looking. I wonder if the Bello is cheaper in Italy.

Just got back from a trip to South Africa. Prices of most things, when converted to Rand, are really cheap. The big exception is automobiles. A Cdn dollar is worth about 5 Rand, so the US dollar must be worth about 7.

A wise man indeed!

Not only the center channel concerns but will the cantelevered shelves support heavy equipment.

This was actually made as a fold up traveling display rack. Base folds into a box to store the shelves, feet, hardware.

John,

Thanks for the response, the big issue will be the cost of shipping. Waiting for my cousins' response.
The website just comes up as a blank white screen for me. Anyone else ??

I'm using netscape.
Brucer,

Are those Rocket Speakers in your pics? Nice!

Yes, those pictures were taken in Dallas at the Onix show, last summer. I made the custom "Road Rack" for Mark Schifter, which, of course, had to accomodate the 12" tall 'Bigfoot' center speaker.
Brucer,

OT but how do you like your Rockets and would you buy again?

Looks like you are using 2 750's and 2 550's up front with the Bigfoot. Wow. What are you using for rears? (or more likely the 550's are your rears and you had em up there for the Dallas show?)

PM me if you want.

thanks,

elvis

Sorry for the confusion, the photos were from a hotel exhibit room where AV123 was doing a show featuring Rockets, Reference Series, and MBL equipment. It was all their equipment at the show. I just provided the stand & plasma.

At that particular time (when the photos were snapped) someone was doing A/B comparisons between the 750's & 550's.
Thanks anyway, Brucer. Rockets are a speaker I am interested in...problem is, ya have to buy em unheard over the net so not sure how they sound compared to others...sure are gorgeous tho. Back to the speakers forum...

Hi,

I was wondering what stands everyone is using. Does anyone have any preferences or suggestions. Was looking for a stand to handle a 50" display. I was leaning towards the BDI Axis 8028.

Thanks
