Hi all,

I am new to the Plasma world. I just brought a Fujitsu P42HHA10 plasma. I also use plasma to view TV. I am using a Sony VCR as the tuner to pass the TV video to the plasma.

I would like to ask, is there any TV tuner which can improve the TV picture quality? Or if I set up a HTPC (I am going to do so), can I add some cards and make it as a TV tuner?

Thanks for any suggestions.

SD on a HD television over cable is notorious for looking crappy. When you are feeding your fuji a crappy SD signal the fuji will upconvert the signal to......an even crappier one (artifacts get highlighted, etc.).

Yes there are cards that you can use in a HTPC to capture SD television, however, I am not sure you will see any significant change. The only thing, I think, that a HTPC allows you to do is scale the images from DVD's or whatever to the panels native display and should only help a display that can display 800x600 at least. I am still not sure if this will bypass the fuji's internal scaler though.
