Plasma TV vs Plasma Monitor (46 inch range)

780 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Don't h8
I want a 46 inch plasma TV and have been looking at the Panasonic TH-46PZ85U (between $1,100 and $1,250 depending on the day)

I plan on connecting it to a HTPC running BeyondTV which will stream HD content from my main server. I have a Denon receiver and 5.1 speaker system.

Am I wasting money buying a traditional TV since I do not need the following:

- Internal Speakers

- multiple HDMI inputs

- Internal Tuners

- ETC......

Is their a professional "Plasma Monitor" that competes directly with the PZ85U or PX800U models?

And...... would there actually be a cost savings.

PS: I am not set on the Panasonic Plasmas as my mind changes day by day. The more I read here the more I waver on my decision. This board can be a sensory overload at times. I have considered the Samsung LN-46a550 as well. So I guess my question goes for LCD Monitors as well.

These days the monitors tend to cost a lot more than the TVs.
I don't think they make 46" plasma monitors. Panasonic is the only plasma manufacturer who makes a plasma in the 46" size and they only have it in "tv" model.
